HDPE & UHMWPE Sheets & Rods

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) is a tough, versatile plastic built for real-world abuse. It’s impact resistant, chemically stable, and doesn’t absorb moisture, which makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. For jobs where cracking, rot, or corrosion aren’t an option, HDPE is a safe bet.

This category covers HDPE, UHMWPE, playground-grade HDPE, and marine-grade HDPE in both sheet and rod form.


HDPE (Standard)

General-purpose HDPE offers a strong balance of toughness, flexibility, and chemical resistance. It machines well, welds easily, and handles wet or dirty environments without degrading.

UHMWPE

UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is HDPE on steroids. It has extreme abrasion resistance, very low friction, and outstanding impact strength.

Playground-Grade HDPE

Playground HDPE is UV-stabilised, colourfast, and designed to survive long-term outdoor exposure. It won’t rot, splinter, or delaminate, making it ideal for public spaces and safety-critical installations.

Marine-Grade HDPE

Marine-grade HDPE is formulated to handle constant exposure to water, salt, and sun. It resists UV, corrosion, and biological growth, making it reliable in harsh coastal environments.

Sheets & Rods

HDPE & UHMWPE FAQs

What is the difference between HDPE and UHMWPE?
Both are polyethylenes. UHMWPE has a much higher molecular weight, giving roughly three times the abrasion resistance and a lower coefficient of friction, so it outlasts HDPE in chute liners, wear strips, and sliding parts. HDPE is the cost-effective choice for general fabrication, tanks, and cutting boards.
Is HDPE food safe?
Yes, food-grade HDPE complies with food-contact requirements and is the standard material for commercial cutting boards and food processing components. It does not absorb moisture or harbour bacteria.
What is HDPE used for?
Cutting boards, tank fabrication, chemical containment, wear pads, truck and ute liners, checker plate flooring, and outdoor furniture. It is chemically inert, UV-stable in stabilised grades, and easy to weld and machine.
Can HDPE and UHMWPE be machined?
Yes, both machine well with CNC routing. We produce liners, guides, rollers, packers, and custom parts to drawing, and weld HDPE into tanks and fabricated assemblies.
Does HDPE handle Australian sun?
UV-stabilised grades do, including our black, coloured, and mining-spec yellow sheets. They are designed for years of outdoor service without going brittle.
Which UHMWPE brands and trade names do you supply?
Our UHMWPE meets the specifications behind Polystone M and Tivar 1000, the Röchling and Mitsubishi trade names. Virgin grade is stocked in sheet and rod, with filled grades available to order.
