Mount covers on standoffs rather than flush against the unit casing, and keep the manufacturer's recommended clearance (typically 300-500 mm) around the condenser fan intake and outlet so airflow is never restricted. Restricted airflow forces the compressor to work harder and can shorten its life.

Fix panels to brick, render or timber framing with corrosion resistant stainless steel or nylon fixings rather than plain steel screws, which will rust and stain the panel face over time. Leave a small allowance in fixing holes for thermal expansion, particularly with darker coloured acrylic that runs hotter in direct sun.
