Slider Strips for Ute Drawer and Storage Systems

Drawer systems and slide-out trays in ute canopies and service bodies live or die on how smoothly they run, and that comes down to what's between the drawer and its frame. Low-friction plastic slider strips carry the load, resist wear from grit and repeated cycling, and keep drawers running smoothly for years rather than binding up within months.

We cut UHMWPE and nylon slider strips to length and profile for drawer systems, canopy storage units, and other slide-out fitouts on utes and service vehicles.

UHMWPE vs Nylon for Drawer Sliders

UHMWPE has the lowest coefficient of friction of the two and the best abrasion resistance, making it the preferred choice for heavily loaded drawers or systems exposed to grit and dust, common in trade and mining service vehicles.

Nylon is a solid, cost-effective alternative for lighter-duty drawer systems, with good toughness and wear life for general storage and equipment drawers that see moderate load and cycling.

Both materials are self-lubricating to a degree, meaning drawers run smoothly without grease that would otherwise attract dust and grit into the slide mechanism.

Getting Smooth, Reliable Slide Action Under Load

Slide performance under load depends on getting the strip profile, thickness and mounting right for the drawer weight and rail design: oversized or undersized strips both cause binding, so matching the slider to the actual load is worth getting right from the start.

For heavily loaded tool and equipment drawers, UHMWPE's extra load capacity and wear resistance pays off over the life of the fitout, especially where the drawer sees daily use in dusty or gritty conditions.

Applications Beyond Drawer Systems

Beyond drawer systems, the same slider strip material is used for canopy tailgate guides, sliding shelf systems, tool box slide rails and other slide-out storage fitted to service bodies and utes.

We also supply strip stock in bulk lengths for fitout businesses building multiple drawer or canopy systems, cut to your standard rail profile.

Custom-Cut Sliders to Suit Your Setup

Provide your drawer or rail profile, the strip width and thickness you need, and the lengths required, and we'll cut UHMWPE or nylon slider strips to match. We can also machine custom profiles for non-standard rail systems.

For one-off repairs, send us the worn strip or a sample and we'll match material and dimensions for a direct replacement.

Ute Tray Sliders FAQ

UHMWPE or nylon for drawer slider strips?
UHMWPE offers the lowest friction and best abrasion resistance, suited to heavily loaded or dusty conditions. Nylon is a cost-effective option for lighter-duty drawer systems.
Why do my ute drawers bind or stick?
Binding is often caused by worn, incorrectly sized, or missing slider strips. Replacing them with correctly profiled UHMWPE or nylon strips typically restores smooth operation.
Can you cut slider strips to a custom profile?
Yes, provide your rail or drawer profile and we'll machine slider strips to match, including non-standard shapes.
Do you supply slider strip in bulk for multiple builds?
Yes, bulk lengths are available for fitout businesses building multiple drawer or canopy systems to a standard profile.
Can you match an existing worn slider strip?
Yes, send us the worn strip or a sample and we'll match the material, width and thickness for a direct replacement.
