Common questions

Acrylic FAQs

What is acrylic sheet?
Acrylic (PMMA) is a glass-clear plastic known by the brand names Perspex and Plexiglas. It is light, strong, easy to fabricate, and the most popular clear plastic for glazing, displays, signage, and DIY.
What is the difference between cast and extruded acrylic?
Cast acrylic has better clarity, machines and polishes more cleanly, and resists solvents better. Extruded is cheaper and fine for basic glazing. We stock cast acrylic for cut-to-size work because it finishes best.
How strong is acrylic compared to glass?
Around 10 to 20 times more impact resistant at half the weight, and it does not shatter into shards. That is why it replaces glass in balustrades, splashbacks, and safety glazing.
What colours does acrylic come in?
Clear, opal, white, black, mirror, frost, and a wide colour and tint range. Popular colours are stocked for cut-to-size; the full range is available by the sheet.
Can you cut acrylic to size?
Yes, laser cut to the millimetre with polished edges available. Use the pricing calculator for an instant price on your exact dimensions.
