A Splashback That Handles the Laundry Environment

Laundries are wet, splashy spaces where the wall behind the tub and bench takes daily punishment from water, detergent, and stain treatments. An acrylic splashback panel provides a seamless, waterproof, mould-resistant surface that wipes clean in seconds, with none of the grout lines that turn grimy in a wet laundry environment.

Unlike painted plasterboard, which eventually blisters and peels behind a laundry tub, acrylic sheet is completely impervious to water and will not delaminate, swell, or develop mould even after years of daily splashing.

Colour and Finish Options

White and light grey from the Perspex Spectrum range are the most popular laundry splashback colours, keeping the room feeling clean and bright. For laundries that open onto living areas or are visible from a hallway, a bolder colour can turn the splashback into a design feature rather than just a functional panel.

Perspex Frost sheet can also be used where a softer, diffused finish is wanted behind open shelving, and clear acrylic is an option for protecting a feature wall or wallpaper behind the laundry bench while keeping the surface visible.

Cut-Outs for Taps, Power Points, and Plumbing

Laundry walls typically have multiple penetrations including hot and cold taps, power points, and sometimes drain connections. Our CNC router cuts precise openings for all of these as part of the panel fabrication, so the panel drops straight onto the wall without any site cutting around plumbing or electrical.

Provide a dimensioned sketch of the wall with all penetration positions marked, and we will produce a panel that fits around everything already installed on the wall.

Installation and Maintenance

Panels bond directly to a clean, dry wall with neutral-cure silicone adhesive. The adhesive cures in 24 hours, after which the panel is fully waterproof and ready for use. Most laundry splashbacks are a single panel running the length of the bench, making installation a one-person job.

Ongoing maintenance is nothing more than wiping the panel down with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Standard laundry products will not damage the acrylic surface, though solvent-based stain removers and acetone should be kept away from direct contact with the panel.

Order a Laundry Splashback Panel

Every laundry splashback is cut to your exact wall dimensions, with cut-outs for taps, power points, and any other penetrations positioned to match your existing plumbing and electrical layout.

Send us a dimensioned sketch or photo with measurements and we will quote a panel in your chosen colour, cut and ready to bond to the wall.

Laundry Splashbacks FAQ

Is acrylic waterproof for a laundry splashback?
Yes, acrylic sheet is completely non-porous and waterproof. It will not absorb moisture, swell, or develop mould behind the panel the way some wall materials can when exposed to constant splashing.
Can a laundry splashback include cut-outs for taps and power points?
Yes, we CNC-cut precise openings for tap sets, power points, and any other wall penetrations as part of the panel fabrication, so the panel arrives ready to install around existing plumbing and electrical.
What colours suit a laundry splashback?
White and light grey are the most popular for laundries as they keep the space feeling bright and clean. Bold colours can also work as a design feature if the laundry is visible from living areas.
How is an acrylic laundry splashback installed?
Panels bond directly to the wall with neutral-cure silicone adhesive. The wall should be clean, dry, and flat. Most laundry splashbacks are a straightforward DIY install.
Can acrylic splashbacks handle laundry chemicals?
Standard laundry detergents and cleaners are fine on acrylic. Avoid prolonged contact with solvent-based products like acetone or strong bleach concentrations, which can affect the surface finish.
