Custom Acrylic Domes for Displays, Skylights and Covers
A moulded acrylic dome gives a clean, seamless curve that flat sheet simply cannot match, whether it is used as a small skylight over a bathroom or stairwell, a display cover for a collectable, or a protective housing over sensitive equipment.
Perspex Online vacuum-forms clear acrylic domes to custom sizes, working from a diameter and height, an existing dome that needs replacing, or a drawing of the base opening the dome needs to sit over.
Cast vs Extruded Acrylic for Dome Forming
Cast acrylic sheet is generally preferred for dome forming because of its optical clarity and consistent thickness after heating and forming, giving a crisper, more even finish than extruded sheet.
We select sheet thickness based on the dome's diameter and intended use, with larger domes typically needing thicker starting sheet to maintain strength and resist sagging over time.
Sizing a Dome for Your Project
Domes can be formed over almost any base shape, round, square or rectangular, so long as we have the internal opening dimensions the dome needs to seat over or the height and diameter you are aiming for.
If you are replacing an existing dome, such as a cracked skylight dome or a discontinued display cover, send us the base frame measurements or the old dome itself and we will match the profile.
Domes for Display Cases and Equipment Covers
Smaller domes are popular for museum-style display cases, retail point-of-sale displays and trophy or collectable covers, giving full 360-degree visibility without the joins a built-up acrylic box would have.
Larger domes are used as equipment covers over pumps, sensors or outdoor fittings where a rounded shape sheds water and debris more effectively than a flat cover.
