Engineering Standards & Fabrication Capabilities

When Off-the-Shelf Shapes Won't Cut It

Most plastic fabrication projects reach a point where a standard rectangle isn't enough - you need a profile, a pocket, a drilled pattern, or a contoured edge that matches an engineering drawing exactly. CNC routing is how those requirements get met without manual error or compromise on fit.

Perspex Online connects you directly to P&M Plastics' production floor, where industrial CNC routers handle everything from single prototype panels to repeat production runs, all from the same workshop that supplies trade customers across Australia.

Industries and Applications We Regularly Cut For

CNC-routed plastic components turn up in a wide range of sectors - often in applications where dimensional accuracy directly affects safety, compliance, or installation time.

Common applications we cut include:

  • Machine guards and safety enclosures for industrial and mining environments
  • Signage panels, display fixtures, and shopfitting components
  • Food processing equipment parts cut from food-grade acrylic or HDPE
  • Mounting flanges, brackets, and tank components for construction and civil projects
  • Jigs, spacers, and wear pads machined from engineering-grade polycarbonate or nylon

Routed Parts That Fit Into a Larger Fabrication Workflow

Many jobs don't end at the router. A panel may need laser-cut detail, welded joins, or a formed profile before it becomes a finished component. Because Perspex Online is backed by P&M Plastics, CNC-routed parts can move directly into secondary processes - laser cutting , welding, vacuum forming - without leaving the workshop or changing hands.

This matters for lead time and consistency. You're not coordinating between separate suppliers or absorbing tolerance stack-up from multiple handling stages.

Tight Tolerances Across the Plastics We Stock

Not every CNC shop is set up to cut engineering plastics cleanly - tooling, feed rates, and fixturing all vary by material. P&M Plastics routes the full range of plastics stocked by Perspex Online, including acrylic, polycarbonate, HDPE, nylon, and PTFE , using toolpaths and parameters dialled in for each material type.

Jobs are quoted against your supplied drawings or DXF files, and finished parts are checked before dispatch - so what arrives on site matches what was specified.

Why Choose This Service

Industrial CNC routers held to ±0.1mm tolerance deliver parts that fit first time, every time.
Sheets up to 4000mm × 2000mm handled in-house - no job is too large for our workshop bed.
Nested cutting maximises material yield, keeping your per-part cost as low as possible.
All eight major engineering plastics we stock can be routed without outsourcing a single cut.
Routed components move directly to laser cutting, welding, or vacuum forming under the same roof at P&M Plastics.
Every finished part is inspected by experienced trade fabricators before it's packed and dispatched.

CNC Router Services FAQ

What materials can you CNC route?
We CNC route all engineering plastics including acrylic, polycarbonate, HDPE, nylon, acetal, UHMWPE, PVC, PTFE, and composite panels like ACM. Maximum material thickness is 80mm.
What is the maximum panel size for CNC routing?
Our CNC router bed is 2440mm x 1220mm, matching standard full-sheet dimensions. Larger assemblies can be routed in sections and joined.
What tolerances do you achieve with CNC routing?
Standard machining tolerance is +/- 0.1mm. Tighter tolerances down to +/- 0.05mm are achievable on engineering plastics with appropriate fixturing.
Can you route complex profiles and pockets?
Yes. 2.5D and 3D profiling, pocketing, drilling, countersinking, and thread milling are all standard operations. We work from DXF, DWG, STEP, and IGES files.
What is the turnaround for CNC routing jobs?
Standard turnaround is 3 to 5 business days. Prototype and urgent jobs can often be turned around in 1 to 2 days depending on complexity and machine scheduling.
